What’s the least powerful generator I need to run my outdoor Christmas lights?
My house has no power yet but I want to decorate the outside of my house with Christmas lights. It’s just a small one story house and I need the lights to stay on for several hours. Help?
It depends on how many and what type of lights you use. The new LED type lights require much less power than the older incandescent bulbs. You might even be able to power the lights with a car battery and inverter. Charge the battery every day before turning the lights on in the evening. It would also be quiet so as not to disturb anyone.
If the full string of bulbs can be powered from a single cord or outlet a 1500 watt generator will be adequate.
Have a look online for used generators and you may find something suitable.
